The Moluccas, in Indonesian Maluku, are an archipelago located in eastern Indonesia, with an area of 74,500 km2 and more than 2 million inhabitants. These spice-producing islands have attracted Europeans since the beginning of the 16th century, first the Portuguese and then the Dutch. The 2 large islands, Halmahera and Seram, are dominated by permanently active volcanoes.

During road trips to the Moluccas, to move from island to island we use small ferries or traditional boats, taking motorcycles on them. A road trip to the Moluccas by motorbike means oscillating between the slopes of the volcanoes and the magnificent lagoons lined with coral reefs.
