MOTORBIKE ROAD TRIP INDONESIA

ROAD TRIP
BALI - LOMBOK - SUMBAWA - FLORES

The Sunda Islands are a chain of islands stretching from Bali to the eastern tip of Flores..

BALI:
This is the most touristic island in Indonesia that does not reflect the true soul of Indonesia! A frantic and uncontrolled development has made this jewel and its culture an overcrowded, congested tourist place like you can find in Ibiza or elsewhere ...
As a result, road trips to Bali are of no interest. If you want, rent a scooter and walk where you can.

LOMBOK:
Small island, much less developed than Bali, offering very beautiful landscapes with its volcano "Rinjani" which dominates the island. Road trips to Lombok will delight you with the beauty of the diverse sites that combine sea and mountains.

SUMBAWA:
A fairly large island 400 km long. Sumbawa is very sparsely populated which gives a feeling of freedom. Very rural island with its corn crops, its buffalo and goat breeding and its small fishing ports specializing in shrimp fishing. The road trips to Sumbawa will allow you to discover the famous "Tambora" volcano whose eruption caused the "Great Starvation" (see Wikipedia).

KOMODO ISLAND:
Natural park with the "Dragons". Accessible only by boat from Labuan Bajo (Flores). Like Bali, Labuan Bajo and Komodo are hyper touristy and have lost all their interest.

FLORES:
An island that will not let you indifferent. Very sparsely populated, without traffic. The road trips to Flores will allow you to discover wonderful landscapes and many particularities (volcanic lakes, traditional villages, rurality, sea ...) and as in Sumbawa a feeling of freedom.

Continue the visit : Sumatra, Java, Sunda Islands (Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores), Timor, Borneo (Kalimantan), Sulawesi (Celebes), Moluccas, Papua (Irian Jaya) | Generalities.
